 YOUR MOTIVES MATTER IN MINISTRY

Appreciation

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of you for your donations and contribution in recording the video songs for my wife's Gospel Music album and copyright registration. We didn’t seek support from the wrong people because you donated to this ministry. 3 John 1:7 "For, for that Name's sake, they went out, not to receive anything from the Gentiles." It is not bad to be supported by ungodly people. But some Gospel singers asked for support from the wrong people and found themselves denying Jesus and selling their dignity and talents. But some have also been forced to run their music ministries as a business because they failed to pay for the costs. God bless you very much for your sacrificial giving.

God does not only focus on the outcome visible to the human eye but also on the process (the motivation behind it). What motivates you to serve? Are you compelled by the love of Christ to do what you are doing or just showing off to people? 2 Corinthians 5:14 "For the love of Christ compels us."

When you are paid here on earth for your good deed, don't expect to be paid again in Heaven. In heaven, we will be rewarded only for the good deed we were not paid for. In Jesus’ time, some people used to blow trumpets to draw the attention that they support people. The Lord Jesus said that they have already been paid here on earth. Mat 6:1-2 “"Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise, you have no reward from your Father in heaven. "Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.”

Even if your donation supports God's work, He still looks at HOW YOU GOT THE MONEY, and WHAT IS THE MOTIVE BEHIND. If you are not careful, your offering can be spent in the world without the approval of God. Proverbs 21:27 “The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination; How much more when he brings it with wicked intent!” "Wrongful intention" is one of the sins listed in the scriptures. Romans 1:29 “29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers.” You can also pray the right words in prayers but deep down in your heart you have bad intentions. Jas 4:3 “You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.”

Examples of bad intentions:

1. Asking for the opportunity to preach the Word of God or perform in a Gospel concert to generate personal income.

2. Supporting the needy to seduce and tempt them to commit sin.

What should we do?

1.               We must have the mind of Christ instead of the mind of the flesh which is enmity against God (Rom 8:7)

1 Corinthians 2:16 “For "who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ.” The mind of Christ is explained in detail in Phil 2:3-11. A person with the mind of Christ has these characteristics: He is not proud, he puts others first, and he humbles himself.

2.               We must have a renewed mind

Without the renewal of your mindset, you will not know with certainty what God's will is for you. You will be insecure in your life. As a result, you will be doing other people’s assignments and forget what God has called you for. Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
