STUDENTS SHOULD SHARE THE CHANGES THEY EXPERIENCE WHEN THEY ARE PRAYED FOR
Today we also prayed for babies and parents/caregivers and continued with solving Science questions for primary school pupils and Mathematics questions for secondary school students. We related the Bible passage to the needs of students. Mark 8:22-26 22 "Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him. So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything. And he looked up and said, "I see men like trees, walking." Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly. Then He sent him away to his house, saying, "Neither go into the town, nor tell anyone in the town."
I shared several points from that Scripture to help the student relate:
1. Students should not be satisfied with prayers alone but should listen to the instructions – they have to know that God has many ways of doing things. He works in mysterious ways.
The blind man was brought to Jesus to be touched but Jesus used a different procedure than the one they saw him doing to other people.
2. Students should be willing to dissociate from vulnerability e.g. They must avoid bad company.
The Lord Jesus took the blind man out of the village before ministering to him. If the environment is not safe, the problem may come back even after receiving healing.
3. Students should share the changes happening when they are prayed for – they should not hesitate to share if they experience anything strange when a minister lays hands on them.
When Jesus laid hands on him, he asked if he saw anything! He said he sees people as walking trees. This helps to know whether the healing process has started or been completed. The symptoms help the doctor to prescribe the most appropriate medicine.
4. When students are prayed for they should do what they couldn’t do before - for example, to study a subject that was previously difficult or they didn’t like it.
When he said that he saw imperfect things, the Lord Jesus laid hands on him again. And this man made an effort to look hard. As a result, he saw all things well.
5. Students should not go back to their old behaviors or habits – they have to let go of friends who have ruined their focus in life.
The Lord Jesus told the blind man after receiving sight that he should never enter the village again.
